The Muskill Dining room

Moroccan Style Statement

Jane and Sara Muskill wanted to renovate their dining room. They were in debate about the style they wanted to incorporate, whether it was a Moroccan style; a place they visited frequently and fell in love with or a Japanese style; because of Sara’s Asian descent. We produced a neutral base for the room, with the flooring and walls as a neutral color so if they wanted to change the style it would not be a hassle renovating new flooring and wall paint. They also wanted a modern feel to this room, so we decided to go with the Moroccan style and later on they can change their décor to a Japanese style.

Floor:  we used a natural bone mosaic ceramic floor tile, with white trim.

Wall:  We made the wall color a similar neutral beige, but we incorporated an accent wall of Lucco Wallpaper that has a neutral luminous shimmer and gives emphasis on the room when you walk in. The wallpaper texture has fabulous texture and triangular pattern.

Rug: we used a 10’ x 8’ multi-color Moroccan style Raffety rug.  As we know Morocco is known for its beautiful deep cool colors, so we wanted to incorporate all of them into this dining room. The fabric has a comfortable thickness that is sophisticated and has stunning geometrics and dimensions.

Chandelier:  We used a gold base chandelier, but notice, there are more triangular patterns to this lighting that compensates the rug, wallpaper and even the dining room table base.

Table, Hutch & Buffet: we picked a dark walnut finish for all three pieces with a slight shine for the modern feel with the table the bottom base made of a laminate brushed onyx that has a lacquer finish.

Chairs:  We picked Stewart furniture Ansel chair with a thick microfiber fabric and 2 cool blue tones for the armchair and side chairs.  Because jane and sara love to entertain we got an extendable dining table that sit eight people. Two armchairs and 6 side chairs. The legs of the chairs at the same laminate brushed onyx as the base of the dining table has.

Leather Poufs: Since Jane & Sara are culturally faith-based people, we incorporated some multi-colored leather poufs by Edelman so they can sit on the floor and meditate and pray. The leather fabric is rich and smooth like butter and the colors are deep and vibrant.

Highchair:  Since Jane and Sara have a 3-month child we went with a modern Stokke Trip Trapp Highchair that also has a dark walnut finish and a wheat cream tray. This highchair is versatile and ranges from a 3-month-old to 3 years of age.

Hutch Accessories: Every time Jane & Sara travel to Morocco they purchase a beautiful handcrafted Moroccan vase as a collector’s item that we incorporate in their hutch for décor.

Plants: As you know the Sahara Region, particularly Morocco is known for their Palm trees. So, we used those as plants in the dining room to give it that tropical feel and of course plants our good oxygen environment.
